Our Secret Sauce
- Participation in city development As the first organization to establish itself in Nkwashi, our school is dedicated to including our learners in various activities. For us, it is part of our culture to know what is involved in design and construction projects and the creation of social amenities around Nkwashi. We see our learners as stakeholders who have a say in how Nkwashi comes to life, and we appreciate Thebe Investment Management for giving us the platform to do so.
- Junior Impact Think Tank Our think tank is made up of kids who come together and ask questions about their educational journey, look for new projects to execute or simply debate about anything of interest to them. They come up with the agenda and the adults take time to listen and support them. The main goal is to ensure the children know that they are heard and valued. The think tank was developed to make sure the adults can consider the children’s views seriously, and to allow children from other schools to visit Explorers’ Prep and hold our learners accountable year after year.
Fresh home grown produce: We have reduced the kilometres some of our food travels to get onto our plate. We try as much as possible to grow our own vegetables and source produce from surrounding farmers. - The great outdoors A lake and beautiful landscapes provide the perfect combination for our learners to remain inspired and to appreciate nature. We use Nkwashi for various unique sporting activities. In addition to the conventional physical education activities, we enjoy bird watching, nature walks, canoeing, kayaking and rowing.
